HBGT 5: Says Who?

This 4 week series is centered on philosophy and ethics.  Healthy Homes Built on Grace and Truth understand that truth is not merely an intellectual exercise. It is not merely an academic exercise. Truth is the foundation of life.  The way we think about truth has a direct bearing upon the way we live our lives. What's more, our understanding of right and wrong is directly dependent on our worldview: is the universe God's creation or a closed cosmic cube?

Says Who, part 3: Transfigured
Pastor Matt Wipperman

Focus:  Transfiguration Sunday doesn’t come until August on the church’s liturgical calendar. Yet, today is the perfect day to join Jesus and His inner circle of leaders on the Mount of Transfiguration. Jesus is showing us something about the reality of God. He is both outside this physical world and not bound by it. And, chose to enter it, and lead it, and is still concerned about it and active in it! God, the Almighty Father, says….”Liste to Him!”

Main Text: Colossians 2:1-10 (esp. Vs. 8); Mark 9:2-9

Says Who, part 2: Taken Captive
Pastor Jeff Meyer

Focus:  Do not be deceived, the battle is real, and it is ON! Have you ever been taken captive by the world’s empty philosophies? The world has been taken captive by the idea that the cosmos is all that is, ever was, or ever will be. The Bible says that God actually exists outside the universe. He is not part of it. Yet, He created it and is active within it.  When a worldview (philosophy) leaves out God and looks for answers to life only within the natural world, it cannot discover reality. And, here’s the impact: Captivity to the world’s view is death. Captivity to God’s truth and His view is LIFE and FREEDOM.

Main Text: Romans 1:20-25; 2 Timothy 2:14-26 (esp. Vs. 24-26)

Says Who, part 1: Your Worldview
Pastor Matt Wipperman

Focus: Caution advised!  Every person has a choice. That choice is exercised either consciously or unconsciously. The choice shapes how we see the world, how we piece together a comprehensive view of reality based on the answer to life’s biggest questions. “What is existence? What is reality? Why do I exist? How do I know that I exist? How do I know something is real? What is the meaning and purpose of life?”  ...to list a few...The choice is called a worldview. What is YOUR WORLDVIEW? Homes built on grace & truth build and live lives on the basis of Biblical presuppositions- – God is and He has revealed himself to us (general revelation through our world and specific revelation through His word). He is both transcendent and immanent – He is above our physical world and works within it.  Your worldview drives how you think, act, and feel – What you really believe. Caution advised!

Main Text: 2 Corinthians 3:7-18; John 3:16-17
