Who Am I, Part 5: Significant
6/30/19
Pastor Jeff Meyer

Focus:  The question, “who am I?” is a search and struggle for significance.  What is special about me, different about me? Where do I fit, where do I belong?  Our significance comes from God, but far too often we try to seek it on our own. God says of course you are significant.  You are significant to me! You are significant to your family! You are significant to the Church! Augustine said, “Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.”  Who am I? I am significant!

Main Text: Matt 23:1-7; Deut. 6:4-9; Numbers 15:37-41;

Who Am I, Part 4: United In One Body
6/23/19
Pastor Jeff Meyer

Focus:  Who am I?  I am a part of the church, united with all the other members in the one body of Christ.

Main Text: 1 Cor 12:12-14; Ephesians 4:1-6

Who Am I, Part 3: Part of a Family
6/16/19
Pastor Jeff Meyer

Focus:  God created woman from man.  We are designed to be together, part of a family.  This is the fundamental unit of human society, and the family is where more humans come from.  We struggle mightily in the Western world as our individuality conflicts with our design to be part of a family.  Sin has messed many things up, including fracturing our families. And yet, it’s part of who we are. I am a father, or mother.  I am a wife or a husband. I am a son or a daughter. Who am I? I am part of a family.

Main Text: Ephesians 5:21-6:4

Who Am I, Part 2: God's Home
6/9/19
Pastor Mike Peters

Focus:  Created by God, designed to be in relationship, but torn away by our own sin.  God not only restored us in Jesus, He brought us into His family. While He was with the disciples Jesus said that the Spirit was with them now, and He promised that later the Spirit would be in them.  Pentecost was a visible outpouring of the Spirit, who we also have in us through our Baptism. Who am I? I am united with God and The Holy Spirit lives in me.

Main Text: John 14:15-26; Acts 2:1-14, 32-41

Who Am I, Part 1: A Social Creature
6/2/19
Pastor Jeff Meyer

Focus:  God is a God of order.  He created you.  You are His creature. When we ask, “who am I?” we start with our Creator.  The Triune God is relational in His very being. Made in His image, so are we.  We see the fingerprints of the Trinity all throughout God’s created social order.  God has united our lives in social spheres: relationship to Him, our families, and in the Church.  Who am I? I am a social creature.
