HBGT 10: Why Should I Care

This 4-week series is centered on the reason we care about and for others.  Healthy Homes Built on Grace and Truth want to be active in their community. Because God cares about all of the people in our communities.  We experience His care for us, and want to be part of sharing His love and care with others. We love, because He first loved us. This series begins the first Sunday in October through the last Sunday in October. The paraments are green for the after Pentecost Season.

Why Care, part 4: The Burdened
Pastor Matt Wipperman

Focus:  God loves the burdened.  The Father sent His Son, Jesus, as the solution, and so that we would know Him and His love even better. Jesus offers rest and a much lighter load, one easy to bear, to all.

Main Text: Matthew 11:25-30

Why Care, part 3: The Lost
Pastor Jeff Meyer

Focus:  God loves the lost.  Jesus loves sinners! He doesn’t sit and wait for the lost to come back, but stops everything to search for those who are lost.  And when even one is found and returns, there is a party!

Main Text: Luke 15:1-10

Why Care, part 2: The Poor and Needy
Pastor Jeff Meyer

Focus:  God loves the poor and needy, they are important to Him.  Jesus doesn’t just give someone a couple of bucks as He “drives by.”  He associates with the poor and needy, and meets their needs. Jesus’ eats with both the poor and those society might deem “important.”

Main Text: Luke 14:12-24

Why Care, part 1: The Unworthy
Pastor Matt Wipperman

Focus:  God loves the “unworthy”, the “outsiders”.  He is so merciful that it might even seem unfair.  How can God love the person who has been so mean to me?  How could God want me to show love to them, to be around them?  Does God expect me to engage with a community that seems to be so anti-faith?

Main Text: Jonah 4:1-11
