Life in the Word is the weekly gathering for 5th and 6th grade students and their parents. Class time is used to instruct students in the basics of our faith, as well as Luther's Small Catechism. Over the course of two years, students will gain a better understanding of the Lord's Prayer, the Apostle's Creed, the Ten Commandments, Baptism, and the Lord's Supper.

We believe that a child's spiritual development should be centered at home and we encourage parents to be their child's primary teacher in regards to their faith. We believe it is important for children to interact with their parents on faith issues, and we know the importance of parents having time to support and encourage each other. Therefore, we encourage parents to attend Life in the Word gatherings with their child. As the children go to their small group time, the parents will have a small group time to pray together and offer support and encouragement to one another.

We use this time for 5th and 6th grade students to develop relationships that will prepare the students to continue to live in community during their teen years. Class times are interactive and geared specifically to the pre-teen. Currently, Life in the Word meets 3 weeks a month during October, November, January, February, March, and April. These gatherings take place on Sunday nights from 6-7:30pm at the Church at Christ Memorial (Fitchburg).
